The 2016 Mazda 3 is available as either a sedan or hatchback, depending on personal preference. The sedan model is known as the Mazda 3 4-Door while the hatchback is referred to as the 5-Door. Other than body style, the two variations are very similar, with each offering the choice of 4 trim levels. Drivers can choose from the G, GX, GS or GT models.

2016 Mazda 3 Engine Review

All Mazda 3 models run on an SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine featuring DOHC and Variable Valve Timing however the GT version offers a SKYACTIV-G 184-hp, 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine. The 2.0 engine generates 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque and relies on advanced direct injection. There is the choice between a manual and automatic transmission. The SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed overdrive is the manual and gives you 29 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. Choosing the SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed electronically controlled automatic with its manual-shift mode boosts city fuel economy to 30 mpg. All models come with front-wheel drive.

2016 Mazda 3 Exterior Styling

The exterior of the 2016 Mazda 3 is the first thing you will notice when approaching the vehicle. It has daytime running lights, halogen headlights, and a rear window wiper. You will notice the short aerodynamic antenna mounted to the roof as well as a rear roof spoiler. The dual power side mirrors are body-colored and the dual exhaust has bright tips. These features are all found on the 5-Door model while the 4-Door model is similar, but without the dual-exhaust featuring bright tips and rear roof spoiler. The 4-Door also has an integrated rear-window antenna instead of the aerodynamic one.

They also include Mazda Connect with a 7-inch touch-screen, voice command, HD radio, Stitcher, Pandora, Aha, SMS text message with audio, and E911 emergency notification.
