There are four available trim levels for the Mazda 3: the G, GX, GS, and GT. Since the GS is the second-highest trim level, it offers numerous features and options to let drivers get the most from their Mazda. The GS with the standard Mazda 3 body style starts at $19,850 while the Mazda 3 Sport GS starts at $20,850 in Canada.

Mazda 3 GS Exterior

The exact exterior of the GS trim depends on the body style that you choose. In either case, drivers can pick from any of the Mazda 3 exterior paint colors: Titanium Flash Mica, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, Meteor Grey Mica, Jet Black Mica, Soul Red Metallic, Aluminum Metallic, or Snowflake Pearl White. It comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, all-season tires, and a temporary spare. The exterior of this trim has power-operated door mirrors and door handles which are body-colored while the window trim has a bright finish. There are also heated door mirrors with a side turn signal, halogen headlights with automatic on/off, rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers, and a rear window defroster. The Mazda 3 Sport GS adds a rear spoiler, an intermittent rear wiper, and a bright finish to the dual sport exhaust.

Mazda 3 GS Engineering

The GS trim of the Mazda 3 is only available with the SkyActiv-G 2.0-liter 16-valve DOHC 4-cylinder engine. It generates 155 horsepower at 6,00 rpm and 155 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. While the SkyActiv-MT 6-speed manual comes standard, you can upgrade to the SkyActiv-Drive 6-speed automatic with a SPORT mode to complement the front-wheel drive. With the standard body style, the manual transmission gives you 8.0 L/100km in the city and 5.8 on the highway or you can get 7.9 city/5.7 from the automatic. On the Mazda 3 GS Sport, the manual gets 8.2 L/100km city and 5.9 highway and the automatic keeps the same highway mileage while boosting city mileage to 8.0 L/100km.

GS Entertainment and Technology

Entertainment in the GS trim comes via the AM/FM radio system with 6 speakers and HD radio. You also get MAZDA Connect, a 7-inch color touch-screen, Aha Internet Radio, Stitcher Internet Radio, SMS text audio, Bluetooth phone, audio and Bluetooth controls on the steering wheel, auxiliary audio input, and 2 USB ports. The instrument display in the Mazda 3 GSĀ  includes a tachometer, exterior temperature gauge, trip computer, warning lights, HMI Commander Switch, and navigation abilities with the navigation SD card accessory.

GS Comfort and Convenience

Seating in either version of the GS trim is identical with black cloth upholstery, a 60/40 split and fold rear seat back with a rear center armrest, a 6-way manually adjustable driver seat, a 4-way manually adjustable seat for the front passenger, heated front seats, and leather on the shift knob, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and parking brake handle. The sun visors in the front have illuminated vanity mirrors and there is also air-conditioning, a day/night rearview mirror, push button start, remote keyless entry, and power accessories. You can also add the available power moonroof with one-touch opening, an interior sunshade, and tilt-up ventilation. Safety in the Mazda 3 GS includes integrated child-seat anchors, safety-belt pretensioners featuring force limiters in front, front seat headrests that reduce whiplash, rear-seat headrests, and a range of airbags.
