Compare the 2016 Mazda 3 to the previous model and you will truly appreciate the changes that have taken place. Designers took the time to truly consider the needs of drivers and passengers and then worked the solutions into the Mazda’s interior. In Canada and across the world, the Mazda 3 now offers more features than it did before, including a longer list of standard amenities. This is to provide passengers and drivers with the best possible driving experience.

New Trim Level

While the US version of the Mazda 3 sees the loss of a trim level, Canadian drivers get to take advantage of a new one. The 2015 version of the Mazda 3 and Mazda 3 Sport each came with only three trim choices: the GX, GS, and GT. For 2016, however, you can also drive a Mazda 3 G, offering an option for those who don’t need all the features of the GX and would like to save some money on the purchase price. These trim levels allow for flexibility when selecting the right Mazda 3 for you, making it possible to choose the car without all the extras and save money.

Pricing Differences

If you just look at the starting price for the Mazda 3, you will notice that it has gone down. This is due to the addition of the G trim for the 2016 model year. The 2016 Mazda 3 G starts at $15,550 while the 2015 Mazda 3 GX started at $15,995 and was the lowest-priced Mazda 3. For the sedan version, the GX trim went up in price, the GS went down slightly, and the GT trim also went down slightly. The Mazda 3 Sport GX increased in price significantly while the GS and GT trims only increased slightly. The pricing scheme allows for those who want to drive a luxuriant Sedan without having to pay the hefty price ticket that often comes with it.

To complement the increase in prices, the 2016 Mazda 3 models also offer more features than the 2015 model year. Many of the features previously found on the GX trim are now available on the new Mazda 3 G, leading to a long list of added features for the GX trim. Just one feature that has gone from optional to standard on the GX for 2016 to include is air conditioning. Designers have realized that climate control is becoming a basic need for most drivers.  The available moonroof on the Mazda 3 has also gotten nicer, with the 2016 model adding tilt-up ventilation as well as a one-touch open feature. Drivers love this features as they can easily open the moonroof now. The added features combined with the moderate pricing system makes the 2016 Mazda 3 a popular car for drivers.
