Keeping your Mazda 3 running properly relies on maintaining it and keeping up with your service schedule. You can find a copy of the recommended service schedule in your owner’s manual, but this is also a handy reminder of when each task needs to be completed.

2016 Mazda 3 Service Intervals

You will want to take your Mazda 3 to your dealership or service center every 4 months or 8,000 kilometers for regular service. If you are especially hard on your sedan or hatchback, then you may need to have it serviced more often. This includes driving mostly in stop and go traffic in the city, exposing your Mazda 3 to road salt, dust, or sand on a regular basis, or living in extremely hot, cold, or humid areas.

2016 Mazda 3 8,000-Kilometer Service

The most important services for your Mazda 3 occur once every 4 months or 8,000 kilometers. This means that you will need to repeat them at every future service appointment and at regular intervals, such as every 16,000 and 24,000 kilometers. At this time, you will want to replace the engine oil and oil filter in your 2016 Mazda 3. Also, inspect that all of your lights are functioning correctly and inspect the tires for wear and inflation. Your mechanic should inspect the clutch fluid, brake fluid, washer fluid, coolant level, and power steering fluid. They should also rotate your tires and lubricate your hinges and locks.

Mazda 3 Later Services

At 24,000 kilometers or 12 months, you will want to repeat the services performed every 8,000 kilometers. At this point, you also need to inspect that the air conditioning is working properly and lubricate the caliper pins and rails. You should also inspect and clean the brake pads and discs in the front and rear. If you have a cabin air filter, you will need to replace it at 40,000 kilometers or 24 months.

At 48,000 miles or 24 months, you need to repeat the services done on your 2016 Mazda 3 at 24,000 kilometers as well as tighten the nuts and bolts on the body and chassis. Also, inspect the pressure test cap and cooling system, checking the system for leaks. Inspect the hoses and fuel lines; brake lines, connections, and hoses; steering linkage and operation; rear and front suspension components, wheel bearing axial play, and ball joints; and driveshaft dust boots.

Mazda 3 Long Term Service

Continue repeating the above services on your 2016 Mazda 3 for their given intervals. Every 56,000 kilometers, you will also need to replace the air cleaner filter and inspection the drive belts as well as the tensioner. At 36 months or 72,000 kilometers, you will have to add an inspection of the heat shields and exhaust system. Every 48 months or 96,000 kilometers, inspect the emission tubes and hoses. The first time you reach this point, you should replace the coolant, which you will then have to repeat every 24 months. Finally, at 120,000-kilometer intervals, you should replace the spark plugs and do an audible inspection of your valve clearance, making adjustments if it is noisy.
