Steel & Aluminum

Welding two different materials like steel and aluminum has always been a difficult task. However, Mazda engineers have mastered the process by modifying the joinery, incorporating galvanized steel and optimizing the rotating tool, high strength steel components are now joined to lightweight aluminum to reduce weight and save fuel.

Lower fuel consumption

Even the 6-hole direct fuel injector are designed to help keep fuel cooler and at a higher pressure to improve combustion efficiency, drawing more power from your fuel so you can go farther with each revolution of the engine.

4-2-1 exhaust manifold

Another innovation that improves fuel efficiency is the 4-2-1 exhaust manifold specially created to help allow the 13:1 fuel compression ratio possible that maximizes power drawn from the engine during combustion.

Improved torque

The 13:1 high fuel compression ratio has been achieved before but never in mass production cars like the Mazda 3. The SKAYACTV-G Mazda 3 engine is the first mass production engine to make this possible increasing torque, improving fuel efficiency and capturing more energy from the fuel.

More torque quickly

Taking the excitement of Mazda driving to the next level the Mazda 3 transmission take into account the speed at which you press the pedal when accelerating. Press the pedal slowly and the transmission with wait until all available torque has been used before shifting to the next gear. Press the pedal quickly and the transmission will down shift faster to give you that extra boost right when you need it.
